MENJAGA TRADISI INTELEKTUAL ISLAM: PERAN ISTAC DALAM PELESTARIAN DAN DOKUMENTASI MANUSRKIP

Abstract

As an institution rooted in the scientific vision of Prof. Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas, ISTAC (International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation) is committed to developing Islamic intellectual heritage based on science and literature, not only through physical books and manuscripts but also in digital form.  The digitisation of ancient manuscripts is an important necessity, as manuscripts are not only relics of the past, but also contain important data, insights, and references for the reconstruction of scientific knowledge that is not yet fully known. This research focuses on the role of the Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas Library in managing its collection of classical manuscripts and documenting them in digital form as an effort to preserve Islamic intellectual traditions in the global era. The method used is qualitative-field with the main data obtained from observations and in-depth interviews with ISTAC librarians. These interviews are reinforced by a literature review of books, scientific journals, and relevant documents discussing related topics.
